For a few years now I’ve tried to scribbled down a couple of pages of stuff every morning as a way to clear my head.  And after time I’ve come to notice a difference when I go several days and don’t bother.
I was more than excited when Buster sprung 750words.com on us as a way of keeping track of this type of thing privately online.  Before I’d used various methods from pen & paper to a private blog to a wiki to just about anything you can imagine to put words in.
What makes this site different, for me at least, is that it give me more reasons other than a clear head to sit down and bang out a few pages of whatever.  It has a scoring system that allows you to build up points throughout the month as you complete days.  There is a leader board where you can see where you rank, but the best thing are the statistics compiled for each day’s writing.
My former systems were great for getting things out of my head, but I’m a sucker for graphs and data analysis.  So being able to go back to last week and get a list of frequently used words, and a pie chart analysis of how it appears I was feeling is gold.
Its free, awesome, Buster seems to be adding new features all the time, and if you are remotely into this sort of thing give it a shot.
Oh, and check out the Explore page for some neat graphs on how people are using the site.
